Fibre Rush Seating

Fibre Rush is a synthetic material designed to resemble genuine rush, but Fibre Rush is much more substantial and much less expensive. It's actually made out of a twisted paper which is quite strong. Most commonly it's brown in color, but also available in white and golden yellow.

Historically, rush seating has been found to date as long ago as 4000 B.C., judging from the bit of rush still clinging to a seat of Egyptian origin on display in the British Museum in London. In more modern times, rush seating began in England in 1720 and here in the USA in Colonial times around 1776.

Your Fibre Rush seat can easily be replaced to its original style. In most seats, however, it's possbile to try something different, if you like. You may wish to try a seat made of Danish Cord, Shaker Tape, Flat Reed, or Ash Splint. Fibre Rush may also be woven in any of the three patterns you'll find on the page called "Other Types of Seating." Please view my other pages and see what's available.
